to Effectively Improve the Mount Vernon City School District

The Mount Vernon City School District invites all citizens and residents to participate in a community effort to analyze the current school system and identify a strategic plan to reflect goals of education excellence and equity. The School Restructuring Committee will engage local stakeholders to examine how model districts successfully educate diverse communities of children while meeting the needs and high standards of 21st Century Learners.

With support from the Board of Trustees, the formation of the School Restructuring Committee will work to effectively set district goals and efficiently align resources to better serve local residents and their children. Together, they will evaluate a variety of education models including the K-8 system, "Princeton Plan", campus systems, and theme-based schools as well as their specific zoning patterns, lottery systems, and open enrollment practices.
